Jenny mentioned that she wished I could put the kids' names on the quilt I had made for her last year. There was no way to do that - a finished quilt is pretty much a finished quilt. So, I just had to make her a new one! How lucky can a quilter mother get - not much luckier than that! I was thinking a medallion quilt with the names in borders around it but could not find a pattern I was happy with. Then I saw this star pattern and thought it was perfect! I bought all different grunge fat quarters for the stars and white for the background. I used some black and white "word" fabric for the back and pieced it with the left over grunge. I used spray basting for the first time and loved it! It really kept the layers together as I folded and refolded and refolded as I quilted! I quilted it on my new Sweet Sixteen and am pretty happy with how it turned out. Still having some tension issues but over all I am getting more comfortable with the machine. Think with more practice I will get better and better. I will give the quilt to Jen for Christmas.
